Our Agency

World Music & Dance Productions (WMD Productions) was formed by singer/producer, Zein Al-Jundi in 1997 as a booking and production agency that aspires to promote world cultures through the art of music and dance by arranging performance opportunities for artists on a local, national and international level. Some of the non-local artists we have represented are, Angelique Kido (Benin, Africa), Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca (Republic of Congo, Africa), Hannouneh Folkloric Dabkeh Troup (Ramallah, Palestine), Abed Azrie (Alleppo, Syria), Oludum (Bahia, Brazil) and Paris Combo (Paris, France). On a local level, WMD Productions has represented many of the most talented and accomplished artists in the World Music and Jazz genres such as Tosca (Tango). Dario Y Su Comborican (Latin), Tamasha Africana (African), Bint El Balad Bellydance Ensemble (Ms. Al-Jundi's own dance company which she directs, trains and choreographs for).

In recent years, our agency has moved away from being primarily a  music booking  entity to being the managing production company for Ms Al-Jundi as an accomplished and highly regarded singer of Arabic music, and the other projects that she takes under her wings such as Red Fez' Arabian Nights.  WMD Productions is now the umbrella under which Ms. Al-Jundi's music shows and productions take place.  It is also the one under which The Arabic Bazaar (retail store and direct importer of hand-crafted treasures from Syria, Egypt & Morocco) & Zein's Dance Studio (home of the Zein Al-Jundi's Authentic Bellydance Classes) operate.

For inquiries, please contact Zein Al-Jundi, owner and director of WMD Productions @ 512-533-9227 or Zein@WMDproductions.com

Zein Al-Jundi

Zein Al-Jundi was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. She began singing professionally at the early age of five and, over the next 12 years, became a household name on Syria's radio and TV channels as well as concert halls.

Upon finishing high school, she chose to leave the music world behind and pursue and college education in the US. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she still resides, and received an undergraduate degree in Architecture and completed the coarse work of a masters in Urban Design.

Discovering it was a passion that didn't die in spite of years of not singing, Zein made the decision to go back to her music, which has since taken more of a center stage in her life and what occupies her time. November of 2004 marked the release of her first CD, Traditional Songs from Syria on ARC Music. It was recorded in Cairo, Egypt with Hossam Ramzy, producer.

School of Bellydance

ZEIN'S AUTHENTIC BELLYDANCE CLASSES teach the dance form as it is danced and taught in the Arab world. The emphasis however is on giving you the tools to develop your own style and be your unique self rather than make you dance like Zein, or anyone else. The class atmosphere is relaxed and fun.  You will get the chance to have fun, listen to wonderful music and get in shape all while you learn a truly beautiful form of dance. Benefits of bellydance are numerous and include realignment of the spine and hips. It is also an excellent workout for the entire body. Zein Al-Jundi was born and raised in Syria, a country where learning Bellydance is a part of the culture. And it is a pleasure and a privilege to extend that knowledge to you. She has been teaching fitness/dance classes in Austin for a total of about 25 years.

WHAT TO WEAR

Whatever you feel comfortable dancing in. It is recommended that you get a bellydance hip scarf (bellydance belt), of which we have a great assortment.  Those are beautifully beaded and imported directly from Egypt with coins and beads and help in accentuating the movements and weighing your hips down so you can see and feel what you are doing better.  Class is done either barefoot or you can wear dance shoes (non-marking and thin soles) of which we have a good number as well, which I (Zein) have designed and have  them made specifically for our store in Egypt.  They are made of genuine leather and come in a variety of sizes and colors.
